1959 BMW Isetta 600 in Japan Red over Gray and Red Interior. Equipped with an Air-cooled 582cc Engine mated to a 4-Speed Manual Gearbox. This beautiful and rare Isetta underwent a complete frame-off restoration which was finished in 2011, and has seen just 3k miles since. During the extensive restoration the engine and transmission were rebuilt, Body was hot tanked, All chrome was re-plated, Frame was taken down to bare metal and coated, Brake system rebuilt, and Electrical system rebuilt. Mileage on the odometer (37k) is believed by the owner to be original to the car. This car was built for the U.S. market, with the front and rear nerf bars as well as sealed-beam headlights. As the owners goal was to make this car a low maintenance and reliable driver with a show quality restoration, various parts on the car were upgraded for better drivability. The notoriously unreliable original drive-axle CV joints were exchanged out for CV joints from a 1968 or newer Volkswagen Beetle. A modern standard oil filter was added (hidden in the driver side rear fender) to replace the original oil filter design, which was a canister built into the crankcase. A fuel shut-off solenoid has been added so that the fuel is automatically shut off when the ignition is turned off, replacing the original system that required the driver to manually shut the fuel off via a switch in the engine bay after each drive.
